“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” 2 Corinthians 5:18-20
Together is a strong word and action in sports and life. In sports we eat together, play together, practice together, compete together, fail together, succeed together, listen and learn together. You think together when executing the same strategy. You feel together when you win or lose. The same is true in life. As a family you eat, play, and live together. You also go to church, movies, and vacations and on walks all together. Together is interwoven throughout our societies and cultures all across the world. God made us to be together with Him and others. This can be clearly seen in His ministry to reconcile the world back to Him.
It is amazing to me that the God of the universe considers us of such great value that He wants to reconcile the world back to Him “with” us. Bringing His kingdom on earth together, proclaiming the gospel together, and being together with Him. He did not have to do this. We know that He is the only One that can save us. He is the way the truth and the life (John 14:6). No one else can resurrect the dead and give eternal life. He does not need to include us in His plans. He is powerful enough to do it on His own, but yet He chooses to include us.
We can see Him including us in the Old and New Testament. In the Garden of Eden God allowed Adam the privilege to be part of the process to shape the world with Him by allowing him to name the animals that God created (Genesis 2:19-20). In 2 Corinthians 5:18-20, God gives us the ministry of reconciliation and calls us Christ’s ambassadors where God is making His appeal through us. Amazing! He wants us to be the representation of Christ on earth proclaiming His message through us! What a privilege and honor. Let’s accept His invitation to be together with God in all He does and with others.
