“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”Proverbs 9:10
Wisdom is the ability to execute the right game plan at the right time. This is essential to success in tennis. Players can serve and volley, chip and charge, stay on the baseline or do a combination of everything. Players are usually good at one or more of these strategies. The top players have the ability to effectively execute all of these strategies, but this alone is not enough. Players also need to learn when the right time is to execute it. Applying the right game plan at the right time is also very important in life.
Many people have the right game plan in life but do not know when the right time is to apply it. Therefore wisdom is not simply the accumulation of knowledge, but how and when a person applies the knowledge. God encourages us throughout Proverbs to seek wisdom and to be wise. But how do we do that? Proverbs 9:10 gives us a clear picture of where to start. It states: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” God is the beginning of wisdom.
Are you fearing (standing in awe and respect) of God?
Are you applying wisdom in your life?
