A Time for Hope! - April 2020
Currently, our staff members are reaching out to our chaperones, to students, athletes and coaches, supporting and serving them in a new way. We have strategies to engage, support and minister to them in order to build them up during this time. A special focus from now on will be our outreach to coaches. Under normal circumstances their free time is limited, but in this situation, they are more readily available and open to be supported. The strategy is to engage, equip and empower them with the assistance of the 3D Institute. It will also involve assisting them to grow in the 'mental' aspect of coaching. That will give us the platform to support them spiritually and to involve them in our Discovery Bible Studies. We hope to involve at least one hundred coaches by the end of 2020.
A time of challenges
Due to the cancellation of all sports tournaments, the following SCAS outreaches are no longer taking place: The North-South Derby at Worcester; The South African Physically Disabled Championships in Port Elizabeth; The World Schools Rugby Festival in Pretoria and The Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival. We are however in contact with all our chaperones and are trying to support them at this time. The bigger concern, however, is that all groups renting “Die Eiland Campsite and Training Centre’’ from March to August 2020 have cancelled their camps. During the past two years, we worked hard at improving the facilities in order to make ‘Die Eiland’ a sustainable source of income and then the Coronavirus appeared. The money we earn by renting out our facility is by far our biggest source of monthly income to pay our staff’s salaries. As a result of the cancellations, we lost that income source and we are not sure when this will be back to normal. This is not a surprise to our Lord, and we trust the Lord to do something special. We will have to think in new ways and try to get other sources of income as soon as possible. Please pray for this situation so that our ministry can continue.
Thank you so much for your support, please let us know how we can pray and support you during this time.
