“I have encountered love in ways I never expected, and faced challenges, SCAS allows you to be broken and moulded, and fosters deep connections with both believers and non-believers.” (SCAS Chaperone)
TRAINING PROGRAMS
In 2024, SCAS staff attended several training courses, such as the Ambassadors Soccer Course and a Camps Facilitators Training course.
We presented or facilitated several specialized courses, such as a Coach-the-Coaches program, the Coach 365 Coaching Course, Life Skills Sessions, 3D Coaching course facilitation, Man-Up sessions for coaches, Identity Exchange sessions, and Mental Toughness training sessions.
We also facilitated Discovery Bible Study sessions for athletes at a local Stellenbosch High School.
“Thank you to the SCAS team for their dedication to equipping us with valuable skills that we can apply in our respective sports contexts.” (Beautiful Gate)
SPORTS TOURNAMENTS
SCAS had the honour of serving at several major sports events this year, including the Grey College U/14 Rugby Festival in Bloemfontein, the Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival in Durban, the South African Craven Week Rugby Tournament in Krugersdorp, and the Forward Foundation’s News24 Sevens Rugby Tournament.
“Thank you for the wonderful service you (SCAS) provide and the impact you make in the young men's lives. The tournament (Cravenweek) will not be the same without SCAS's presence.”Tinus Diedericks (Chairman of the Golden Lions High Schools Rugby Association)
MINISTRY OUTREACH PROGRAM
Throughout the year, SCAS actively participated in 11 outreach programs involving over 114 sessions. These efforts included ongoing weekly sports ministry initiatives and additional community projects. We did Life Orientation at a local High School, Connect Groups and Soccer Coaching at another school, and Five-a-Side Soccer Coaching and refereeing at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport. A community project was done in an underprivileged neighbourhood.
We collaborated with various ministries and non-profit organizations in community outreach programs. We did weekly sessions at four schools with HEY Schools Ministry and an after-school program with the Pearl After-Care Project in Strand. In Stellenbosch, we collaborated with the Usiko Community Project.
SCAS staff members were also involved in several special events and programs. We did the school assembly and a clinic at a primary school. We did holiday programs at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport, holiday outreaches at a beach resort, and youth camps. We were also involved in various team-building sessions. A Grade 9 learner shared, "I want to thank SCAS for the incredible work they did, teaching us so much about sports and sharing the gospel of Jesus."
Reflecting on all that was accomplished this year, we are truly grateful for the opportunities to serve and impact lives with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Thank you to our prayer partners for being part of all our work. Thank you to our volunteers who served selflessly and with distinction. Thank you to our financial supporters who made it possible for us to do everything we do. The gospel is free, but ministry costs money. You can support us at https://www.scas.co.za/donate
As we step into 2025, we look forward to new opportunities to expand our impact.
May you experience the love and compassion of our lord Jesus Christ during this season.
Soli Deo Gloria
