‍We are grateful to our Lord for all our opportunities to serve in and through sports during this past term. Here is feedback on some of the highlights.

SARU U/18 CRAVENWEEK 2023

‍This prestigious tournament, for the top 16 provincial rugby teams in SA, took place from 2 - 9 July at Quteniqua Park in George. The SCAS Team consisted of 20 volunteers from different provinces, and they served the local organizing committee, SWD Rugby Union, referees, and players. We had opportunities to share the Gospel, facilitate Discovery Bible Study (DBS), engage intentionally with coaches and players, and serve physically by assisting the LOC and teams with practical tasks. Our CEO, Christo Spies, had the privilege to lead the church service at the start of the week, and numerous players committed to accepting Jesus Christ as their Saviour.

‍As with any outreach, we had our fair share of challenges, but all glory to God for leading and guiding us through it all.

‍"Thank you so much for SCAS guys. They are so friendly and dutiful. The boarding houses would have been nowhere without them being present. They are truly gold worth."
- Mona Erasmus (boarding house manager of OMK)

‍" Always remember the power of a seed. I'll never forget the impact that the SCAS chaperone made 20 years ago, when I played Cravenweek. It changed my life completely."
- Pierre Spies (former Springbok rugby player)

‍"I had such an incredible experience being a volunteer at SCAS. From Bible study sessions, serving the needs of the players, praying for them, and building long-lasting relationships, this was an experience I'll never forget. A very important lesson I've learned was to "give everything and expect nothing." It is so powerful when it comes to ministry and serving God's people. Sport is such an excellent platform from which to share the Gospel of Christ."

‍2023 GLOBAL IMPACT SOUTH AFRICA

‍It was a privilege and honour to host this amazing group here at "Die Eiland" during the month of June. Students from the US and Africa were trained in sports ministry and how to apply it in their communities.
The program consisted of Christ-centered training, outreaches to local communities, a kid's camp, wonderful cultural trips, etc. Lives were changed and lifelong friendships were formed.

‍"I am so blessed for the opportunity to learn about the ministry from SCAS, and be witness to what humble servants of the Lord truly look like. Thank you so much for everything! South Africa will forever hold a special place in my heart!"
- Brooklyn Biancamano

‍"Thank you for being examples of Christ-like love. You inspire me!"
- Ava Johnston

‍"Thank y'all for serving us so wonderfully and humbly. SCAS made this experience so impactful and life changing. Die Eiland was and will be my second home."
- Matthew Armbruster
